Voodoo Jazz

Voodoo Jazz formed in the late 1990s. Our music is a mix of funk, soul, and jazz. Before going on an extended hiatus we had the opportunity to play hundreds of shows as well as many notable jazz festival appearances in Montréal at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, in Ottawa at the Ottawa Jazz Fest, int Toronto at the JVC Jazz Festival, in Rimouski at the Festijazz Rimouski, and internationally in Lyon, France with the Entretiens Jacques-Cartiers. In the mid 2000s the group took a break, but has reformed and been playing together since 2011. We have recently produced our fourth full length album, Dig! which was released in 2016. We are currently working on music for our fifth album.
Voodoo Jazz is Joseph Hackl on guitar and vocals, Jesse Meyer on alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones and flute, Alex Daneau on tenor and baritone saxophones, Philip Chown on bass, and Christian Ingelevics on drums. We count among our members graduates from the prestigious music schools at McGill University and Humber College, and have decades of combined musical experience.
